Facilities and Infrastructure
The M.Sc. Programme “Management Technologies for Aromatic and Medicinal Plants: Cultivation, Processing and Production of High Added-Value Products” is delivered at the facilities of the Department of Agriculture and Agrotechnology of the University of Thessaly, located at the GAIOPOLIS campus in Larissa.
The Department provides modern teaching, laboratory and research infrastructure that supports the educational, practical and research needs of the Programme. Students have access to lecture halls, classrooms, specialized laboratories, field infrastructure and digital services that contribute to both theoretical and applied training.
The Programme’s infrastructure includes:
Modern classrooms and amphitheatres, including the “Theophrastus” and “Hesiod” amphitheatres, equipped with audiovisual systems, computers, projectors and accessibility features for people with mobility difficulties.
Specialized laboratories, including laboratories of Aromatic and Medicinal Plant Technology, Plant Protection, Irrigation, Agricultural Engineering, Soil Science, Chemistry and Advanced Chemical Analysis of Agri-Food Products.
Field and plant production facilities, such as the Botanical Garden of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants, experimental fields, demonstration orchards, a vineyard and greenhouse facilities for cultivation, propagation and research.
Modern laboratory and analytical equipment, supporting education and applied research across the value chain of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants. Students become familiar with processes such as the production and extraction of essential oils, as well as advanced instrumental analysis for the qualitative and quantitative study of bioactive compounds, volatile and non-volatile components, trace elements and potential contaminants.
Digital services and tools, including electronic student services, the eClass learning platform, Microsoft Office 365, SPSS, WiFi and Eduroam.
Student support services, including library access, student meals, academic identity card services, healthcare, sports facilities and support structures for students with disabilities.
